When it comes to tipi weddings – and Hadsham Farm Weddings in particular – there are different things to think about during the planning process. So, to help you out, we’ve popped on our ‘wedding planning experts’ hat to bring you this failsafe, step-by-step guide to planning your big day in six months or less.
1. Assemble your dream team
First things first, you need to work out who are your must-haves. These are the guests that are your non-negotiables; the ones you can’t imagine getting married without. A shorter-than-average lead time for your wedding means you’re going to have to make compromises and not everyone on your dream guest list may be able to make it. But it’s so important to check that the ones you need there, your closest friends and family, can make it before you lock in the date. Get that dream team in place asap and let the planning commence!
2. Get the budget confirmed
Not particularly exciting but, without a clear budget, wedding planning costs can quickly spiral, particularly when you’re planning a tipi wedding in six months. Sit down together to work out exactly what is affordable before you book anything else.
3. Sort the invites
With six months or less to go until your big day at Hadsham Farm, you need to get those invites out pronto. We’d suggest sending digital Save the Dates, just so you can give your guests as much notice as possible for them to arrange accommodation, childcare or time off. Time is of the essence, so don’t worry about these being perfectly themed to your big day colour scheme or style. Aim to get the proper invites out between three to four months in advance if you can.
4. Work out your priorities
We know we’ve mentioned it before, but planning a last-minute tipi wedding does mean you may have to make some compromises along the way. That’s why it’s important to sort your priorities. What means the most to you? With not a lot of time to get everything in place, start with the most important factors – whether that’s securing your dream celebrant for your outdoor wedding ceremony or booking your favourite photographer. Just be prepared to be a bit flexible. Many wedding vendors get booked up way in advance, so don’t be too disappointed if you can’t get everyone you want for your date. We promise you’ll still have the best day.
5. Speak to Charlie
When you’re up against it time-wise, it’s so important to have someone who’s ‘been there, done that’ to ask for advice during planning. Nobody knows Hadsham quite like our owner and venue manager Charlie. Even with just six months to plan your day, he will go above and beyond to help you pull off the most epic wedding, ever. 6. Book your suppliers
The beauty of a tipi wedding at Hadsham Farm is that you don’t ‘need’ much. We include all the essentials like power, water and toilets, so all you really have to think about is the food, drink and music. We’ve worked with some awesome suppliers who we’re very happy to recommend for the catering. In many cases you can book just one supplier to cover food and drink, or if you prefer you can BYO soft drinks and alcohol with no corkage charge.
When it comes to music, anything goes. If it’s too late to book a band or DJ, take inspiration from some of our past couples who got their friends to DJ at their Hadsham Farm wedding. This is such a crowd-pleaser, with everyone getting fully behind each DJ as they played their own bespoke wedding set. It’s a brilliant way to create the coolest party atmosphere on a budget and at short notice.
7. Get your mates involved
Unlike a traditional indoor venue, planning a wedding at our Hadsham Farm tipi in less than six months is an ‘all hands on deck’ kind of affair. Get as many friends and family involved in the planning, as well as setup and on the day help. Honestly, this is part of the joy of a tipi wedding and it’s when so many amazing memories are made. We love seeing everyone pitching in and helping the nearly-weds out the day before and the day of the wedding. Teamwork makes the dream work!
8. Decide on décor
Our tipi is absolutely stunning as it is, and our Cotswold countryside setting is next-level gorgeous. In all honesty, Hadsham Farm doesn’t really need anything extra to make it look great but if you do want to put you own stamp on things we can help. Our on-site prop shop has everything you could possibly need to hire out for your day. We’ll give you exclusive access to this, so nothing will be double booked.
DIY is the way to go when you want to plan a wedding in six months or less, so get all your family and mates involved in ribbon cutting, favour making and seating plan printing.
